I Love Rubber Bands
By Bo Sanchez
Let me tell you a crazy story I heard recently.There' s this husband who out of sheer love for his wife decided to prove it to her. So he swam the widest oceans, crossed the deepest rivers, and climbed the highest mountains to show his deep devotion to her. But in the end, she divorced him. Why? Because he was never home.(Get it?)
Let me tell you an experience I had as a kid. One day, I asked Mom, "Why do my shoes keep eating my socks?" As a young boy, that was always a mystery for me. All my other classmates never had that problem. Their socks remained tight and high up their legs the entire day. Mom didn't answer my question but simply gave me two rubber bands which I dutifully placed around the top of my socks. To this day, fifteen years later, I still have permanent circle marks around my legs. But aside from giving me this slight defect, the two bands worked like magic. It never occurred to me that Dad and Mom didn't have the money to buy a new pair of socks for me. So I wore five-year-old socks, all soggy, grayish, and garter less. And yet amazingly, I never complained. I believe it was because Dad was always home when I needed him. Every night, after coming from work, we'd jog together, sit around, and talk about Tarzan, Farrah Fawcett Majors,God, and what I wanted to be when I grew up (a stockholder) .
On Saturdays, we'd walk to Cubao, eat a hotdog-on-a- stick,and buy new rubber bands before going home. I've learned that in truth, we don't want our loved ones to show their love for us in big ways. Swimming the widest oceans,crossing the deepest rivers, and climbing the highest mountains seem spectacular - but that's not what we really want.
Deep in our hearts, we just want them home. With us. Sometimes, God will operate that way. Suddenly, He decides not to answer our prayers, or fill our need, or heal our sickness, or give us the miracle we're asking for. (He's got reasons why He won't, and believe me - they're pretty good ones.) So He'll
just be there beside you, holding you in a
hug. Sharing your pain. Weeping as you weep. Oh, He might give you some rubber bands. And that small comfort from Him will be more than enough to sustain you. Because the most essential truth you already know. ...home.
My gadget wishlist:
1) A digital camera (I have one which was handed down to me by my dad but I think the battery is broken, because after taking maybe 5 consecutive shots its already low batt.)
2) A portable media player (I haven't decided whether to buy a Creative or an Ipod)
3) An external hard drive (I have one which is resourcefully done by my boyfriend, using my old laptop's (20GB) hard drive and buying an enclosure for it. But 20GB is not enough for me
)
4) A printer (I am using our old printer which we had since I was in high school. My dad has his own 'new' printer while my sister has her own 'new' printer which was for free when my dad got a DSL connection. The printer I have is not functioning properly anymore it'll only print once when you open the computer. If you'd like to print another document you'd have to restart the computer.
)
5) A higher memory card for my SE K750i (Right now I think mine has 64MB only, and I don't think I'll be replacing this phone anytime soon)
So far those are the things I'd like to have/buy. Not only because Christmas is coming soon... but because ever since I started working I know I can afford buying them (all I need to do is save!!).
PLUS: If its possible to buy an upgrade for a laptop's memory &/ processor I'd be happy to buy one... that is if I can afford it.
What's your favorite thing to shop for?

I really have no particular favorite thing to shop for... I'm not a shopaholic nor a shopper (I can't stand being in a mall or a store with a lot of people). I guess the only thing that I really need/want/like to buy is my monthly dose of Girlfriend magazine :P I rather spend my money on food than things kasi.

After months of having my cellphone, its only now that I was able to do a synchronization between my phone and computer. I always thought my PC Suite doesn't work... turns out that I need to install all drivers before being able to use my PC Suite. So now I'm happy c: Hopefully, I won't be able to lose my contacts number again, ever.
